When thinking about where to invest, people tend to think first
of property or the stock market, but as one item in a diversified
strategy buying a number plate can be an excellent investment.
Demand for cherished registrations is increasing as their availability
diminishes, and the DVLA continues to promote public interest with
their regular auctions. To date, the highest price realised for a
registration at auction has been £231,000, for which the plate
K1 NGS was sold in December 1993!
 Other
plates that achieved high auction sales were P1 LOT, which reached £82,500
in September 1996, and 1
RR, knocked down for £106,000 in December 1994. The value of both
these plates has increased
significantly since these sales.
A registration purchased as an investment can either be allocated
to a vehicle, or held on a Certificate of Entitlement. Allocating
the registration to a vehicle means that you’re able to enjoy
the plate itself, as well as benefiting from its increasing value.
Should you wish to purchase registrations as a means of investment,
please telephone us, on 0845 346 4339.
As
well as working with you to select plates in private hands, we
can act on your behalf
at DVLA auctions to obtain selected registrations identified by
the DVLA as likely to command high values.
